British Student Taekwondo Federation Nationals 2019

The BSTF series came to an end once again this year with Nationals at the University of Worcester Arena on the weekend of 16th-17th of March. We are so incredibly proud of everyone’s performance over the whole academic year and especially at Nationals. One of our aims as a club was to rank in the top 5. We have managed to not only rank in the top 5 but come 3rd out of 61 other UK Universities! So congratulations everyone! Every single of one of you is responsible for this achievement!

Vinay Varsani competed in both ITF A class sparring and Patterns where he won a gold and a bronze respectively. Ellie Hill also competed in A Class ITF Patterns and won bronze. So proud of our ITF athletes!

Jasper Estranero and Tannaz Sohrabi competed in WT A Class Poomsae. Both did an exceptional job where their hard work and persistence over the weeks coming up to Nationals really showed. Tannaz even made it through to the finals! Tannaz also competed in WT A class pair poomsae with Doug Bowe. They did a brilliant job and won Bronze!

Jack Mitchell and Abbey Williams are both new members of our club and they competed for the first time in WT C class Poomsae individuals and pairs. Jack won a Bronze in individuals. Keep up the good work and more medals are guaranteed for the both of you in future competitions!

Also huge congratulations to Tattiana Ma, Bashayer Ahmad, Tarandeep Jhuti, Paivs Lee and Vivienne Wang who competed in WT B Class poomsae. All of them did an amazing job!

Dan Padrao, Tattiana Ma and Tarandeep Jhuti competed in WT B class sparring. Although no medals were won, they all showed massive improvement compared to previous competitions! Keep up the hard work and the determination guys!

Jacob Maresca and Brad Hopkins competed for the first time WT C class individual and teams sparring along with Jack Mitchell.  Well done to all three of them for their performance in sparring and their rightly deserved silver medals in teams!

Sam Christelow and Anna Pafiti competed in WT A class sparring. They both made it to the semi-finals, taking home 2 bronze medals!

Alice Cardall and Nurizzah Nazri also competed in A class WT sparring. They both did a splendid job representing our club!

Chloe Dutton and Thangaes Nithi both won gold in WT A Class sparring and qualified for the European University Championships taking place in Croatia this August!

We want to thank our coaches for their support. Mr Gary Skinner, Dr Wenqi Li and Reza Mani. We wouldn’t have made it this far without them.

Good luck to everyone competing in our upcoming completion, TTA Teams in Glasgow and good luck to those competing in the European University Games!
