UoN Taekwondo took part in the first two competitions for this academic year on Sunday, 19th of November 2018.
36th TTA Individual Championships in Glasgow and BSTF Autumn Championships in London.
Congratulations to everyone who competed! Everyone has made UoN Taekwondo very proud. It was a great experience for everyone, a lot was learned and a lot of goals have been set for upcoming competitions.
8 members of our club competed in sparring and amongs them they managed to bring 10 medals home!
Thangaes Nithi, 2 Gold medals in WT A Class Sparring
Chloe Dutton, 2 Gold medals in WT A Class Sparring
Vinay Varsani, Gold medal in ITF A Class Sparring
Sam Chistelow, Silver in WT A Class Sparring
Francesca Spagna, Silver in WT A Class Sparring.
Anna Pafiti, Silver and Bronze in WT A Class Sparring
Dan Padrao, Bronze in WT B Class Sparring.
Fred Dausel also took part in B class sparring. He did exceptionally well but lost by one point difference in the very last seconds.
Tannaz Sohrabi and Henry Lewis represented the club in WT A Class Poomsae and ITF A Class Poomsae respectively. Henry got 7th place and Tannaz made it through to the finals. An amazing performance by both of them.
Also, well done to the people from our club who helped out at the competitions. Jasper, Joe, Binh and Vinny for refereeing at TTA and Tannaz for corner judging at BSTF.
We want to thank our coaches for their support, without them we wouldn’t have managed to reach this far. Thank you Mr Skinner, Reza Mani and Alice Cardall.
Last but not least, Wenqi Li, alumni and staff member of UoN, represented Team GB in the World Poomsae Championships in Taipei. She achieved 5th place, narrowly missing the bronze medal. Congratulations Wenqi!
